SonicWALL – Detection Prevention – Randomize IP IDs

Details

Select Randomize IP ID to prevent hackers using various detection tools from detecting the presence of a security appliance. IP packets are given random IP IDs, which makes it more difficult for hackers to ‘fingerprint’ the security appliance.

Solution

Navigate to Firewall Settings->Advanced->Detection Prevention and check off ‘Randomize IP ID’.

This security hardening control applies to the following category of controls within NIST 800-53: System and Communications Protection.This control applies to the following type of system SonicWALL.
